Retailers Against Crime
Retailers Against Crime (North East) works by intelligence led targeting of prolific, persistent, professional, travelling shop thieves. Launched in 1999 with 6 members in Newcastle City Centre, the partnership currently includes almost 350 national, regional and local retailers plus 10 shopping centres, 11 town and city centre crime reduction partnerships plus Cleveland Police, Durham Constabulary and Northumbria Police.
Retailers Against Crime (North East) covers the North East region represented by the Cleveland, Durham and Northumbria Police areas. We work closely with similar schemes throughout the UK, including Retailers Against Crime York (RACY). We are retail led and are administered by Northumbria Coalition Against Crime on behalf of the retail members. Its operation is overseen by a Steering Group which meets quarterly. Retailers Against Crime (North East) operates strictly within, and is a registered user, under the provisions of the Data Protection Act. How Retailers Against Crime (North East) works Retailers Against Crime (North East) works by collating intelligence, information, sightings and deters from member stores and verifying this information against information from the Northumbria, Durham and Cleveland Police systems and the Police National Computer. Intelligence bulletins collating all available information and featuring the most prolific offenders and teams of offenders are circulated to member stores, head offices, town/city centre partnerships, police departments and specialist police officers. Whilst other schemes operate across the rest of the UK, RAC North East is the only system which verifies information against police systems, and has direct access to a police intelligence system for the two-way flow of information. North Lanarkshire CCTV Ltd
North Lanarkshire CCTV Ltd (NL CCTV Ltd) provides CCTV monitoring services throughout their region. They cover all North Lanarkshire Town Centres including associated housing areas. Airdrie was the first town in the UK to introduce CCTV into public areas and the Company has always been proactive in the fight against crime.
